Alex Lipsen composed songs and played keyboards and bass in the Brooklyn band, The Jealous Girlfriends, which had songs featured in Grey’s Anatomy, The L Word, and CSI: Miami. As a session musician, Alex has lent his chops on Shakira’s She Wolf and Santigold’s debut album Santogold. Along with owning Headgear, Alex has engineered such artists as: Nada Surf, Santigold, Okkervil River, Say Hi, Pela, Phosphorescent, Teachers, Virgin Forest, Ribbons, The Sharp Things, and Light Asylum.
You can check out some of Alex’s production work on the Gabriel Miller-Phillips record and on his instrumental project Joy By Proxy. One of JBP’s songs is featured on the compilation entitled ’78 LTD, which you can grab at Thick Syrup Records.
Alex finished tracking and mixing a full-length for the Doc Marshalls and mixed live performances for Phosphorescent. He also mixed a single for Many Colors and finished tracking and mixing a record for Virgin Forest (Partisan Records).
